Assistant Professor Maria Kaneva

 
Senior Professor Maria KanevaKaneva was born in 1971 in Plovdiv. She graduated the University of Food Technologies (UFT) in Plovdiv where she majored in Technology of Microbiological and Fermentation Products. In 1996, she received a diploma for an engineer-technologist in Technology of Beer and Non-Alcoholic Beverages.
In 1999, Kaneva started as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Wine and Beer at UFT. In 2003, she became an Senior Professor. In the past, she has taught lab courses in Technology of Malt, Technology of Beer, and Technology of Specialty Beer. Currently, she teaches lab courses in Technology of Non-alcoholic Beverages and Organoleptic Analysis of Non-alcoholic Beverages. In addition, Kaneva helps with the organization and implementation of tutoring sessions for students. She is also an academic advisor for 27 students both candidates for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
Kaneva has a strong research interest in the field of herb extracts. During the 2003-2004 academic year she was a lead for a project, supported by fond “Science” at UFT. Presently, Kaneva works on her Doctor dissertation, which is about herb extracts and their use in the production of non-alcoholic beverages. She is Assistant Professor from 2008.
