Chobanova was born in Mokren, Burgas in 1955. She graduated the Polytechnical High School in Karnobat in 1973. Later she went to school at the Institute of Food Technologies (UFT) in Plovdiv where she majored in Technology of Wine and Hard Liquor and received an engineer-technologist degree. After that she started working at Vinex Slavianci in Singunlare. In 1988 Chobanova defended a Doctor dissertation and acquired a PhD Degree. In 1989 she started teaching at the Department of Technology of Wine and Beer at UFT. She became an Assistant Professor in 1991, an Associate Professor in 1993, and a Professor in 2007. Chobanova teaches several courses to both full-time and part-time students among which are Enology for the Bachelor’s degree programs, Physical Chemistry of Wine for the Master’s degree programs, and Enological Physical Chemistry in French for the Master’s degree programs at the French School at UFT. She also teaches the lab classes for some of these courses. Chobanova has been an academic advisor for more than 150 students enrolled in both the Bachelor’s and the Master’s degree programs. She is also an author of numerous publications, projects, and research papers. In addition, Chobanova is an author of two books for lab exercises in Enological Physical Chemistry and Enology. She does research in the filed of changes and processes of the content and organoleptics of wines during aging, wine processing and stabilization, as well as the importance of wine for human health. Chobanova is fluent in French, Russian, and English. She is a member of the Union of Enologist in Bulgaria since its foundation. Moreover, she has been its deputy-chairman for two terms. For more than eight years she has actively participated in the organization of the National Wine Tastings at the annual wine festival “Vinaria.” Last but not least, she is a member of NTS since 1989. |
